The 10 biggest data breaches in 2018, as reported by Business Insider, compromised the personal information of millions of people around the world. The numbers, ranked by the number of records affected, are shocking, to say the least:
1. Aadhar — 1.1 billion
2. Marriott Starwood Hotels — 500 million
3. Exactis — 340 million
4. MyFitnessPal — 150 million
5. Quora — 100 million
6. MyHeritage — 92 million
7. Cambridge Analytica — 87 million
8. Google+ — 52.5 million
9. Chegg — 40 million
10. Facebook — 29 million
“Traditionally, the key elements of customer loyalty were product, price and service. But in this fast-moving digital economy – where the connected consumer is highly motivated to use new technologies like AI and personalized apps – it will take more for companies to distinguish themselves from the competition. For more and more customers, trust is becoming a key reason to choose a certain company and is therefore becoming an integral part of the customer experience,” said Mascha van Eijk, Regional Sales Manager for Infoverity in EMEA.
As Steve Jobs once said, “You’ve got to start with the customer experience and work backwards to the technology.”
“At Infoverity, we help our clients to recognize the importance of establishing a digital foundation to ensure overall governance, and the most secure and safe use of their customer and product data,” said Steve Ruff, Director of the Product Solutions Group at Infoverity. “Our “Digital Foundation First” methodology provides our clients with the clean and trusted information that is so important in delivering meaningful Customer Experiences, eCommerce and Omnichannel results, and ultimately, customer loyalty in 2019 and beyond.
