Infoverity completes IDQ install and process implementation for client in Manufacturing Industry

Infoverity has successfully completed the platform installation of Informatica Data Quality (IDQ) 9.5.1 and implemented address data validation processes for a client in the manufacturing industry. Foreign address data with suspect quality was enhanced and standardized to provide the business with higher confidence in deliverability to customer locations and sales enablement on prospect data. The Data Management team was equipped with a higher degree of control on the data and training provided by Infoverity enabled the client to establish ongoing profiling and IDQ development methodologies for future business requirements.

Approach

A project plan was developed by Infoverity to perform the installation of IDQ 9.5.1, implement address data processes and provide training for the client. Acceptance criteria were defined for each task and required client sign-off to ensure satisfaction upon delivery.

IDQ Installation

A full server and client install was performed in three separate environments: Development, Staging and Production. An installation runbook was generated which also contained instructions for loading out-of-the-box content, Address Validation reference data and Informatica Accelerators. Infoverity resources performed the full installation in Development and assisted with the remaining environments, allowing the client to gain hands on experience.

Address Data Processes

IDQ process mappings were developed for Brazil, India and China address data. Each process consisted of address parsing, validation via AddressDoctor, standardization and de-duplication. Checkpoints were created throughout the process to provide insight into the changes being applied to the data. For Brazil, Informatica Data Director was utilized to provide web-based data stewardship and enable manual intervention by client data stewards to correct invalid records and manage match clusters.

Client Training

Providing knowledge transfer to the client was achieved through over-the-shoulder work sessions, documentation of all tasks and processes and formal training sessions with client resources. A data quality use case was created to demonstrate the lifecycle of profiling, creating business rules and applying them in IDQ processes.

Results

The project plan was executed successfully and on budget, delivering the client a fully operational IDQ 9.5.1 platform with process definition for foreign address data. Third party validation of address data generated higher confidence in product and sales information deliverability to customers and increased sales enablement on prospect data. Documentation and training enabled the client to become self-sufficient and move forward with integrating additional sources and country data into their system.
